First and Last Day of School

First Day MDO

I just dropped Jaye off for her last day of "school" for the year. She has grown so much. It's incredible. Jaye and I on her first day of Mother's Day Out last September. Such a little baby. And here we are/were this morning. My round little baby is looking like a real little girl now! Cue the mama tears and the "oh they grow up so fast" wistful reminiscing. . . . Okay, enough of that. Time to get busy enjoying my last day of child-free time! … [Read more...]

A Week in May

AWeekinMay6

What have we been up to lately? I definitely owe a family post, so here goes! Last Saturday, after breakfast with Pops, we walked down to the park by Pops' house. After a long time playing, Jaye was hot and thirsty. She clearly needed a treat from the ice cream truck. "Mmmm." On Tuesday, Jaye and I met up with her friend Sam at the Galleria play area. She and Sam sweetly shared their snacks with each other, even though for the most part they didn't interact much. Baby playdates are … [Read more...]

Fingerpainted Canvas Art

The other morning I was reading some blogs and came upon Kim's fingerpainted canvas art and was instantly inspired and motivated. I thought, "I've pinned something like that several times on Pinterest, now it's time to actually make it. And I have all the supplies on hand. Jaye and I are making our own fingerpainted canvas art TODAY." Basically: (1) Take a canvas, (2) Apply stickers or vinyl in the shape of whatever quote or image you want, (3) Let baby go to town with fingerpaints, (4) Once … [Read more...]

Easter Adventures Pt. 2: First Easter Egg Hunt

First Easter Egg Hunt

On Sunday, Jaye had her first Easter egg hunt and she loved it! Here's how it all went down. My family came over after church with Kentucky Fried Chicken, a tradition from when I was growing up. We used to always get KFC and go to a park for an Easter egg hunt. Grant and I loved those hunts, so much that when they were done, we made Mom and Dad hide all the (now empty) eggs again, just for the fun of looking. After we'd had our fill of fried chicken and mashed potatoes, we all headed out to … [Read more...]

Easter Adventures, Pt 1: Painting Easter Eggs with a Toddler

EasterEggs1Watermarked

We had a wonderful Easter weekend, and I hope you all did too! I'll be sharing Jaye's first Easter Egg hunt soon, but today I've got a different Easter activity. Painting Easter eggs with a toddler! Because Jaye's so little, I didn't want to just dye eggs. I knew she wouldn't be very interested by that process--just put the egg in the cup and watch? Boring. Painting Easter eggs with a toddler needs to be way more hands on than that! Instead of a typical egg dye kit, I picked up one called … [Read more...]
