Forgotten Projects: Favorite T-Shirt Pillow

Once upon a time, with our 5 Year Reunion from college nearing, my good friend Kelsey had a birthday coming up.

Kelsey as one of my bridesmaids.

Once upon another time, even longer ago, Kelsey, another friend, and I had gone on an epic bike camping trip while in college.

This trip involved loading our bikes up with camping gear. Riding away to another town and camping by a a lack.
It also involved creating a LOT of weird inside jokes.
For instance, we found this “Hot Mama” pickle for sale, and it became the funniest thing in the world. When we got back from our trip, we made t-shirts commemorating our adventure and the funny jokes. Having t-shirts printed at the campus print shop was a college tradition of ours.

To make a long story short(er), I found the t-shirt while packing and decided to turn it into a pillow for Kelsey’s birthday. My process was definitely not tutorial-worthy. It basically involved trying to sew the pillow into a nice square to fit around my pillow form, abandoning that, ripping out seams, ripping up the pillow form to just make stuffing, ending up with weird stuffed protrusions from the sleeves, feeding Jaye mums so she wouldn’t eat the stuffing, cutting my arm protrusions into fringe, and finally shipping it to Kelsey in California. She LOVED it.

  1. So many t-shirts to choose from at my house! I’m hosting a linky party “One Creative Weekend” at I’d love for you to visit and link up this idea and/or anything else you’d like to share.

  2. I’m so glad you linked this up at One Creative Weekend! I love it! I can’t wait to see what you link up this week.
